Woman's Day

I was honored to be interviewed by Melody Warnick from Woman's Day magazine. Her article on women beginning a new career later in life features Diana Cosby, a talented writer of Scottish historicals and my wonderful critique partner. Look for the article to appear soon.

Congratulations, Diana!

Synopsis finished

I just completed a synopsis for Hidden Heiress, about a heroine, Elissa Maroulis, who goes into hiding from her Greek father who wants to marry her to a business associate. What better place to hide than taking a job as a nanny to Texas billionaire Devlin Matthews, guardian of his three month old niece?

Launching a Star Contest

Just finished critiquing entries for Launching a Star Contest by Space CoasT Authors of Romance (STAR). I am always amazed at the quality of entries. One entry really stood out, and I suspect the author has an excellent chance of being published. The old adage, Practice Makes Perfect, applies here. Every word we write makes us a better author. So, for those unpublished, continue to pursue your dream and don't give up. And one day your dream will come true.

Contest Judging

I'm signed up to judge the 2010 Launching a Star contest for the Space Coast Authors of Romance. Looking forward to reading some fantastic entries. Everything is done electronically now. I still prefer to judge on paper, but I can adjust. Looking forward to it!

Back to the Joy of Writing

Well, it's been a while, but I am back on the road to writing. I have just finished a proposal for Silhouette Desire, which I am hoping to submit in the next week.

Here's a sneak preview:

Karen Powers is out for revenge. Years ago, her mother had an affair with Douglas Russell, the patriarch of the world's most luxurious hotels. Karen believes he is responsible for her mother's death, and she is going to see he pays for it by destroying his stellar reputation. But first she has to get past handsome and powerful billionaire Adam Russell, Douglas's son, and the CEO of their corporation. Never had she planned on her heart getting in the way. Is she destined to repeat her mother's mistake?

Adam Russell doesn't trust freelance photojournalist Karen Powers, but his attraction to this seductive woman is playing havoc with his libido. Though determined to keep her from reporting fictional scandalous stories about his family, his desire for her leads him to pursue a sordid affair with this woman he is loathe to trust.

Forging On

While I continue to pursue publishing another book, I am busy as a freelance writer.
Each assignment I work on is exciting, and I am enjoying this new aspect of writing. I also do public speaking and workshops. I've created flyers, brochures and booklets for my day job. I just wish there were 48 hours in a day.

What happened?

It's been about nine months since my last blog. Life sure gets in the way sometimes. I had to put my writing career on the back burner for a while due to family obligations. For the past two years, it was pretty easy. I was so busy, I don't know when I would have found the time. Now the desire to write is driving me crazy. I'm ready to jump start my writing career. Once I make up my mind to accomplish something, I'm pretty dedicated.

I've been deciding on the path I want to take to get back into writing. I love writing Silhouette Desire. I have quite a few stories in various stages just begging to be written. I'm excited about finding opportunities to submit my work.

Now I just have to follow my plan. I'll get published again in the future. I just know it.
